Box Office: Weekend Review
January 29-31
Drum roll please…..oh, forget it. Avatar reigns over the Box Office for the seventh consecutive week. The big news is that Avatar has now crossed the 2 billion dollar mark in internal and domestic gross sales. Box Office Mojo showed Avatar with a $30 million weekend, easily making more than the number two and three movies of the weekend.

With a good performance and solid reviews, Gibson's Edge of Darkness earned the 2nd spot at the Box Office.
Taking the second spot was the Mel Gibson thriller Edge of Darkness – opening with a solid $17 million weekend. This was Gibson’s first leading role in years. Fans seemed excited about his return, which got solid reviews from critics. In third place was When in Rome, a romantic comedy with Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel which got off to a solid start.
Moving up a spot to forth this weekend was the unwatchable Dwayne “The Rock ” Johnson movie, The Tooth Fairy. I am still trying to figure out how we got to The Rock wearing a fairy outfit with wings? The Rock becomes a tooth fairy?! One thing is for sure, I do not care what The Rock has cooking in the future. Perhaps the biggest news from the weekend is Legion falling from number 2 to number 6 – losing over 61% from week one to week two (according to Box Office Mojo).
Crowding the field next week will be the Jon Travolta spy thriller titled From Paris with Love. If you are not up to speed on this flick, check out the trailer below.

Even with From Paris with Love joining the mix next weekend, I think it still may be difficult to dethrone Avatar. But maybe David will conquer Goliath after all.
Are you excited about the newest Jon Travolta movie? Do you think Avatar will finish next week as number 1?
